His experiences have contributed to the success of many award winning newscasts as well as recognition for his own storytelling through photojournalism and editing. Of his many accolades, Michael has been nominated for a regional Emmy by the New York State chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts and Sciences and was the Syracuse Press Club's Best Photographer for 2005.

From early in his career, Michael learned from a news director that stories are about people and not necessarily events and has taken this approach with many productions he's involved with.
